Description: Daily, 7 am to dusk. New as of last year, the Neighborhoods route visits the capitol complex and the historic district with many homes on the National Historic Register. Then you’ll walk thru a post WWII neighborhood and an upscale golf community with the option of including a commercial area. You’ll also pass the Nevada State Museum, a casino and several eateries in the downtown area.

Start Point / Driving Directions: 917 North Carson St, Carson City, NV 89701-1200. 775-882-7744. From I-80 take I-580 exit in Reno south for 27 miles to Carson City. Take exit 43/ N. Carson St/Hwy 395 bus. Start is on the Left corner of Carson St and E. Ann. Or take Hwy 50 to Carson City from Sacramento area, turn left on Hwy 395 (Carson St). From this direction, the start point is approx 8-9 blocks past the Capital on the Right. OK to stay parked at Hotel.

Comments: Restrooms available across the street from hotel at Arco/ AmPm and along route. Strollers and wheelchairs with difficulty due to few curb cuts. Pets ok with cleanup but not allowed on Capitol grounds.

Description: This small rural community sits adjacent to Verdi, NV, founded in 1868. You’ll walk along country roads between California and Nevada past an eclectic mixture of upscale homes, old houses and pasture lands. A school, public library, tavern, history center and city park along the river round out the town. A great view from the top of Pine Cone Dr. Very little shade, carry extra water in hot weather.

After registering you will drive 0.3 mile N to start 10K walk. Drive 2.5 miles for 5K start in Lake Forest.

Description: This walk will take you through world-renown Squaw Valley near Lake Tahoe. Squaw Valley, also known as Olympic Valley, was the site for the 1960 Winter Olympics. This walk is one of a kind with 360° views of mountains (and some volcanoes). After starting at the historic Squaw Valley Chapel (6200’ elevation) you will walk on the valley floor, mostly on paved bike/walking paths that include views of the golf course, the Village at Squaw Valley and many mountain homes. 10k walkers will view the “Tower of Nations” used in 1960, displaying the replica of the eternal Olympic flame.
