Walking Calendar
The Tahoe Trail Trekkers proudly sponsor: Four Year Round and five Seasonal Walks, a Winter Ski and a Year-Round Bike located in two states (California and Nevada) including the the Nevada Capital Walk.
The Seasonal Walks are located in Tahoma, Truckee, Tahoe City, CA. (two) and Incline Village, Nevada from May 1 to November 30 each year. Some alternate routes are also available. The club also sponsors an AVA cross country ski event in the winter. There are four Year-Round walks and a Year-Round Bike all located in Nevada. Reno (two walks & a Bike), Carson City (Capital Walk ), and Virginia City.
The club usually does one of these AVA walks each month from May through October. The walks will be posted here as scheduled. AVA NEWS AND NOTES The annual volkssport convention was held in Idyllwild, CA this year, a charming artsy-craftsy community in the mountains west of Palm Springs. Although it was unseasonably cold over the weekend, at least it wasn't snowing as it was in our mountains up here! The host clubs; the Green Valley Gaiters and the Low Desert Roadrunners provided three walks, a picnic lunch and a pizza social. Thirty eight clubs were represented and the business meeting was very productive. The treasury showed a $2,000+ profit. The new officers for the next two years will be: President: Jay LaCroix Vice President north: Don Ratliff Vice President central: Phil Jones Vice President south: John Cappello Secretary: Judy Stroud Treasurer: Bev Jones The next CVA convention will be hosted by the Sacramento Walking Sticks April 28 to May 1, 2011. UPCOMING WALKS: June 9-10; Davis-- the Walking Sticks take us thru the affluent community of El Macero on pedestrian paths and city streets. June 13; San Francisco-- the Bay Bandits take us thru the St. Francis Woods neighborhood then onto dirt trails on Mt Davidson. SPECIAL EVENT: June 26-27: Mountain Magic Encore-- the Trekkers again join with the Placer Pacers to offer 3 scenic routes at Lake Tahoe. Two trails will include Fallen Leaf Lake, one a guided evening tour, and the Rubicon trail will showcase Emerald Bay and Vikingsholm Castle. A special treat will be the dessert potluck after the evening walk. Come join the fun! Call Judy at 775-348-8419 for further info on above events.
